Mount Vernon Music hosted reknowned Quebe Sisters Band on August 29th. The 'Texas Swing' style band has performed at the Grand Old Opry and other notable venues across the United States.

Local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts planted two maple trees at Little Creek Park in celebration of Arbor Day.   

Mount Vernon's Main Street Board and guests celebrated Preservation Month with a 'This Place Matters' Heritage Trolley Tour on May 11th. The group toured significant local heritage and cultural sites, stopping for snapshots of participants carrying 'This Place Matters' signage. Around 30 people were in attendance. Afterwards, the group celebrated with a reception at City Hall.
