The City of Mount Vernon is a Type A general-law municipality.  The Administration is  responsible for the overall operation of the City and implementing the policies established by the Mayor and the Council.

City Administrator, Lee Elliott, has served the City since February, 2007.

City Secretary, Tina Rose, has served the City since May, 1994.
